Last updated: 7 October 2026. How Curiometric collects, uses, and protects your information.
Who we are
Curiometric is an independent product-review publication. Our contact point for privacy matters is hello@curiometric.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
Comments — if you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form, together with your IP address and browser user-agent string, to help detect spam.
Messages — if you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically collect technical information when you visit — for example your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring pages, the pages you view, and the dates and times of your visits. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies to operate the Site and to understand how it is used. They fall into three broad groups:
Essential cookies — required for the Site to work, for example remembering that you submitted a comment.
Preference cookies — remember choices you make, such as the name and email address you type into a comment form.
Affiliate and measurement cookies — set by our partners when you click a paid link, or by analytics tools that help us understand traffic.
You can control, block, or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you disable cookies, some parts of the Site may not work as intended.
Affiliate links and the Amazon Associates programme
Curiometric participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
When you click a link marked paid link and go on to make a qualifying purchase, the merchant (for example Amazon) may set a cookie on your device so that the purchase can be attributed to us. Those cookies are set and controlled by the merchant, not by us. We never receive your payment details, and we do not see or store information about what you buy. For details of how a merchant handles your data, please read that merchant's own privacy policy.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of third-party providers to run the Site. Depending on how you use it, these may include:
Hosting and infrastructure providers that store and serve the Site.
Web fonts — we load typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser requests the files.
Affiliate networks such as Amazon Associates, which track qualifying referrals.
Comment and anti-spam services that help keep the Site free of spam.
Analytics services that help us measure traffic and understand which articles are useful.
These providers may process your information on our behalf or as independent controllers. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
How we use your information
To operate, maintain, and improve the Site.
To respond to your comments, corrections, and enquiries.
To measure traffic and understand which content is useful.
To attribute affiliate commissions.
To detect, prevent, and address spam, abuse, or security issues.
To comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK visitors)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following bases: your consent for non-essential cookies and any marketing; our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site, keeping it secure, and understanding our audience; performance of a contract; and compliance with legal obligations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@curiometric.com.
Data retention
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so that we can recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically. If you register on the Site, we store the personal information you provide in your profile. Analytics data is retained according to our providers' settings, and emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry.
Children's privacy
The Site is not directed at children under 13, or the minimum age in your jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our service providers may store or process your information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above.
